The Call to Action. You know, that phrase or verbiage seen at the end of blog posts, Facebook entries, signature blocks, etc. You are, in essence, telling the person what to do next. Is all of this necessary? Absolutely. Depending upon which marketing propaganda you read, it takes 5-10 “views” of your message before someone takes action. Fair enough. So, my brain tells me to include my telephone number in all my blog posts, when I communicate via Facebook and LinkedIn, and to ensure I’ve got a killer signature block.
Here’s another reason why I feel this “call to action” is so important: I’m really smart, and I’m also really busy. My brain is crammed with husband-business-cats-flipthishouse-buythishousethatjustcameonthemarket-dinner-exercise-ireallyneedabubblebath-family-sex-playtime-takethetruckinforservice-taxes-ineedtoshavemylegs-blahblahblah. Your goal is to find a break in all the noise which is floating around in my brain and make me say to myself, “I need this service/person/thing/program! I must call right now!” Sure, it’s easier said than done, but give me the information I need to contact you right now. Don’t make me search for your telephone number or e-mail address; if you do, I’ll move on to the next business owner who’s message is still lingering in my brain.
The Call to Action is cliché, but important. Help me remember you, and find you, and in turn I just might buy from you.
